Got Questions?

Here are a number of frequently-asked questions:

How much personal time will it take?

In addition to weekly rehearsals throughout the year, we have 1 annual show in October/November. We also participate in a Sweet Adelines regional competition in March or April each year and have a dedicated Saturday workshop to focus on preparing for competition. We tend to perform in and around our area about 8-10 times per year for local festivals, business and charitable events, as well as participating in Christmas and arts festival activities.

What is the cost?

After qualifying an initial fee of $150 (can be made in 3 payments)

Monthly dues: $25

Future expenses include formal competition costuming and casual attire. Information will be given on purchase of these items. Many of these pieces are avilable as rentals from the chorus. Always check with your section leader before making a purchase as some items may be cycling out of use.

What is the audition procedure?

On your first visit our director will have you privately sing for her as song such as Happy Birthday or Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. She will also ask you about your musical background. This allows her to place you in a certain voice part and with a buddy for the rehearsal.

Early on you will be provided with an audition song and learning trac. After you have attended several rehearsals and feel comfortable, you will notify the membership leader that you are ready to audition. Section leaders and the director will meet you early before the next practice and sing with you on your audition song.

Current audition song is the organization's theme song, How We Sang Today.

Do I have to be a great singer?

No, and you don't have to read music either. If you can carry a tune on a common song, you can learn to sing babershop.

How do I learn the songs?

Sheet music and learning tracs are provided
